Free solar panels – Helping businesses
decarbonise and save money

Otter Energy installs free solar panels on host buildings (or land) helping them to decarbonise and save money on their electricity bill. No capital is required from the host.

Installing solar panels is a practical and visible step that makes your business more sustainable. They can supply around 30% of the site’s electricity, and save 2-5 pence per kWh on your electricity costs.

If you have a large electricity bill (more than £5,000), a decent size roof (more than 20 metres long), or spare land, Otter Energy would like to hear from you.

How it works – Power Purchase Agreement

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) needs to be signed. This is a long-term electricity contract (15-25 years), which allows Otter to fund the solar panels.

A price for the electricity is calculated that is less than the grid electricity supply price, and is linked to general inflation, not energy inflation, so savings increase over time.

We operate and maintain the system over the period, gifting it to the site at the end of the term with years of useful life left (or we can remove it).

Where applicable we can install batteries, EV charging and upgrade the electricity infrastructure, possibly through private networks, to overcome site constraints.
